Steve Nicks Nick’s Nuts !!
Anzac
Day
After a fantastic weekend and a very taxing Sunday
(for some anyway) we thought a nice easy drive north past the cemetery and
through Kondapringa Station would be a great end to
the festivities. WRONG.
We started off with Mick & Sal leading the way,
constantly checking the maps as none of us had been this way before.Travelling along admiring the huge rocky bluffs
Terry suddenly announced that he had lost 4wd. As he was managing in 2wd we
pushed on when 10mins later a bang on my passenger side resulted in my front
left spring & shocky coming adrift. 3 of the 4
nuts were missing and one of the U shackles was bent. After much searching Nick
discovered that his 100 series wheel nuts were the same size.So
after a quick blacksmith job on the shackle & 3 of Nicks wheels with a nut
missing Mick & Don(who said he needed the experience) refitted the shackles
& we were on our way again
After a welcome lunch break we continued on, only
missing one turn at the homestead. Back on track Nick decided to show us how to
balance a new Prado on a pile of dirt. A quick push
soon had him on his way and thereafter the trip was thankfully uneventful. So
with an afternoon break at Mt Carbine we headed down the range and home. By the
way Terry somehow found his missing 4wd so all was well that ends well.
A big thank you to all for a great trip and for
all your help.
